On October 1, 2026, Pi Network announced a partnership with Open Standard, the company behind Open USD, also known as OUSD.
This could become an important step toward building more practical utility inside the Pi ecosystem.
A NETWORK OF MORE THAN 200 PARTNERS
Open Standard brings together more than 200 banks, payment companies, technology platforms and global businesses.
Its five founding partners are:
- Coinbase
- Mastercard
- Shopify
- Stripe
- Visa
The wider partner network also includes Google, BlackRock, BNY, Ripple, Solana, Stellar, Western Union, MoneyGram and many other organizations.
Pi Network is now listed as part of this network.
This does not mean that Visa or Google has signed a separate direct partnership with Pi. However, Pi has entered a large stablecoin ecosystem with serious financial and payment infrastructure.
WHAT MAKES OUSD DIFFERENT?
OUSD is a U.S. dollar stablecoin designed for:
- Global payments
- Money transfers
- Foreign exchange
- Merchant settlement
- Wallets and cards
- Institutional trading
- Internet-based financial services
OUSD is issued by Bridge, a Stripe company. Its reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY.
OUSD is currently live on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo.
WHAT COULD THIS MEAN FOR PI NETWORK?
Pi Core Team said the two organizations will explore reward programs for Pioneers and broader OUSD utility across the Pi ecosystem.
If implemented successfully, this partnership could help Pi solve a real economic need:
PI could remain the ecosystem’s native digital asset, while OUSD could provide a stable payment unit.
Merchants could list prices in a stable dollar value.
Users could make payments without worrying about the price of PI changing within minutes.
Pi applications could connect more easily with global payments, money transfers and online commerce.
An OUSD reward program could also create new incentives for Pioneers, developers and businesses building real utility.
AN EARLY STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
OUSD has not yet been announced as live on Pi Mainnet.
There is no confirmed integration date, reward formula or OUSD button inside Pi Wallet.
However, every large financial system begins by connecting the right infrastructure with the right partners.
Pi Network already has Open Network, a global community and an identity-verified ecosystem.
Open Standard brings a stablecoin and a large international payment network.
If these two parts become a working product, Pi could move closer to its goal of becoming a digital economy used in everyday life.
The partnership is the first step.
Integration is the next step.
Real-world use is the final destination.
